We stopped in the small south east Queensland town of Kilcoy for coffee,
I could hear what sounded like a brushcutter then noticed trails of
dust clouds in the park opposite. There was a guy with a remote controlled buggy
tearing around a picnic shelter. I finished my coffee and went to investigate,
the guy's name was Carl I asked him if I could take some shots. He said:
"better be careful it's got a 21cc whippersnipper motor and if it hits you it'll
fuckin' hurt!"

Once we got a trajectory sorted out I took these; there was one near miss.

9 photographs of Ian Thomas

Ian lives in a sprawling faux Edwardian mansion he built himself over a number of years, behind Byron Bay on thirty acres, with three overfed, overindulged, horses. There's no garden to speak of just horse paddock right up to the house. One of the horses has even taken to coming inside if given the opportunity. Ian is a veteran of the famous Australian victory at the battle of Long Tan during the Vietnam War. He's never forgotten the way he was treated. He asked me to call the last photo in this series 'Pissed Digger' (pissed as in pissed-off but it could be the other also) so I have.
